Transition Town Milton Keynes clean up at the Blue Lagoon
On Sunday 1st July at around 5 o'clock six of us set off from Milton Keynes College- Bletchley with litter pickers and bags on hoops provided by the local council. It was another beautiful, hot, sunny day. We crossed the road and took the path down to the Blue Lagoon. There was litter to pick up on the way and a chance to chat. The path was often shady and passed a pond rented out to a private fishing club. All the way down there was litter to pick up. Arriving at the Blue Lagoon was a bit like getting to the seaside.Instead of going to the lake edge which might have made us look like kill-joys we made our way to the car park. It's a long time since I've seen so much litter piled around an overflowing litter bin. Jean-Louis took photos to provide Milton Keynes Council with evidence of the mess. At about 6 we started back. We'd cleared some litter and talked to each other. An hour or so well spent.
Join us for our next 'plawalking' (litter picking and walking) event on 4th August at 5pm. Meet at the Caldecotte Arms Pub entrance (that's the pub with the windmill). All equipment is provided. Transition Town Milton Keynes plan to run a monthly event and will publish details on our website.
And here's a great article about Transition Town Milton Keynes member Jean-louis who has been selected as one of the first 100 Keep Britain Tidy #LitterHeroes Ambassadors
